Polyethylene and polypropylene are thermoplastics, which are sensitive to ultraviolet rays. Exposure to sunlight causes the polymers to age.

The cumulative action of oxygen in the air and UV light can cause photo-oxidation that cuts the molecular chains of the polymer and causes irreversible damage such as:

  • Yellowing
  • A decrease in tensile strength

Recommendations

It is important to protect your PE / PP packaging from ultraviolet light.

Packaging should not be stored outdoors.
